to those whose hearts walk around outside their bodies

this quote is so oddly true…

I think every year I appreciate my mom more. it’s not that I didn’t appreciate her before, but as I see how she relates to Mr. D and our kids, us as a family unit, me as a mom, I just can’t believe how blessed I am to have her. soooooo many people don’t have the awesome balance of support and hands off approach that my mom gives us. much more common to the general population is lack of support, judgment, and/or overbearing control. and I am so thankful to say that I have the opposite of all of that in my mom.

I think part of it is that she prays. a lot. :) and she leaves it to God.

I don’t think she can ever realize the impact she has on me/us just by the way that she lives her life. it’s weird to say, but I’ve seen her grow and change so much in the last 10 years, and I can honestly say that I couldn’t find one thing about her that I would change (except maybe sometimes being a little too nice to some people, lol).

I can remember when she was a much more afraid person. a much more worried, harried person. a much more controlling person. a more moody person.

she is none of those now. she gives me hope that God can do all of those works in me also. she just makes you feel good when you’re with her, and I don’t think there is a better compliment than that. our kids are so blessed to have her in their lives!

thank you, Mom, for being the person that God made you to be, and not being content with any less!

mothersdayup

to my children, I pray that I can be the mom that you need. I’m so very sorry for the times I have inadvertently made you feel like you were a bother. you are not. you are my life. I couldn’t possibly be more blessed than I am to have you! you make my life SO much more full than I could have ever imagined. I love you!

I don’t know how I could have possibly lucked out so much in the mom department! my mother-in-law is also not only supportive, but is not controlling or judgmental, either. thank you so much, Mayela, for being the example and encouragement you have been to David growing up and for the way you pray for and help our family now, and for loving our kids so much, too :)

thank you, God, for giving me this amazing husband and beautiful children that bless me with the title of mother.

fancy a chat? and maybe a little cuteness…

so lately we’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed again. it might have the tiniest bit to do with our Costa Rica workation speeding to a close in the coming weeks. we’ve had an awesome time here, but as usual only got about a quarter of the stuff done that we’d hoped. too much of our life up to this point has been spent playing catch up. honestly, we could easily have plenty to keep us busy here for the rest of the year. whether or not we’d make any decent sort of money is anyone’s guess :)

the truth is, we’re at a VERY transitional point in our lives. it’s one of those things that if you think too hard you could easily freak yourself out to the point of being paralyzed. on the other hand, if you choose not to think much at all and just keep moving forward in the direction that you believe God is laying out for you, then it’s super insanely exciting.

we are contemplating some really fun things for this summer… 2012 is looking like the year for all sorts of craziness, lol. we want to believe God not just for survival, but for big, awesome stuff. we know beyond the shadow of a doubt that the things in our hearts are far bigger than us, and are only remotely accomplishable with the help of a BIG God. honestly, we only know a small part of our dreams – as we fall on God’s grace, he just seems to continue to make our hearts bigger to make room for bigger dreams.

it feels like being on a high rope – just keep looking forward, never look down!

so we’re taking it one step at a time…

and really, I think that’s a good place to be in.

here are a few random videos you may not have seen yet. we upload them sporadically, but don’t always post about it.
the latest ones show up handily in the sidebar there.

David had the idea to do a fun, romantic sort of meal for his aunt and uncle, so the girls got everything around and we cooked for them for their anniversary last month. inspite of a few minor disasters along the way, I think it mostly went over well, lol. we had fun anyway.

Costa Rica: someone misses their grandma and makes a big bubble mess.

I’ve been trying to upload the video tour of our digs here (which Krista so kindly edited :) ) but the internet took a nose-dive away from awesome the last few days and it keeps timing out. so in the meantime, here are two shorter videos which you might find rather amusing if you a. know Maverick, or b. appreciate cute kids :)

first of all, he spilled almost a whole container of bubbles:

and secondly, he randomly decided he missed his grandma, awww:

in other news, ladies, I’m talking about breastfeeding over here today.
gentlemen, I’m sure you have other things to do :)

practice starts here

Our ridiculously beautiful baby girl child started worship dance classes a few weeks ago. We had been wanting to start her in something for over a year now and this was a wonderful opportunity. She is supposed to wear loose/comfy bottoms and have her hair back from her face. I also felt compelled to paint her toenails and commemorate the day with a few photos of such. Isn’t she precious?!

our little dancer

We could definitely see Maeve getting into acting in the future – I played the lead in a few plays as a child and she really seems to have some ability in that area. We don’t know if she’ll be great at dance stuff, but I’m sure she’ll put whatever she learns to good use.

Our amusing boy child initially thought he was supposed to be in the pictures also, and his sister was happy to have him. He quickly lost interest…

aww, brother and sister... OK! that's enough!

Shorty-ish

Well so ends another weekend in the household of the Dillers. We have sadly come to the resolution that we are going to commiserate with our fellow Iowans and spend the winter here. We’ve already had a couple of inches of snow just this week, and I don’t think we’ve had any days that have been above freezing (I don’t track this too well so don’t quote me). So BLAH. Christina and I decided this after much thought, the trip wasn’t going to be long if we did go, so what is the worth of going to good weather and coming back to crappy weather. I have about 2 wks of paid time off at work so I think we’ll make use of those during this winter and get some stuff done with our business. yay !!

Bouncing the subject… I was so glad to receive a package of yummys from the church matriarchs!!! I guess they made some time to take care of our kids and make food for the parents!! I have to admit, this is one of the reasons why Iowa just rocks, nowhere in my travels have I encountered such a loving church family. I was blown away when we had Maeve, cus for 2 weeks we ate like pigs, because people in the church made meals for us, and now this! Sooooo… for those of you that don’t live in Iowa, stay where you are!!! Once mid-March comes along, THEN move to Iowa (I hope Kirk & Karla read this …).

I guess there’s not much more to tell. I’m proud of us  because our house has had a good semblance of order for the past week. It’s amazing how much nicer and less stressful life is with a clean house.Well got to go!! Oh a funny!! The other day we were praying for lunch and we were going to watch “the office ” and so I finish, and Maeve adds her little tag “an Gamma (grandma), an Tapaw (grandpa), an Michael!!!!” hee hee  I guess if you don’t watch the Office then sorry, and you should really come out of the cave and get some fresh air! Apparently she knows who he is!! ha ha!! Have an awesome week!! For those of you in IA, pray for God to have mercy on us.
