Costa Rica: someone misses their grandma and makes a big bubble mess.

I’ve been trying to upload the video tour of our digs here (which Krista so kindly edited :) ) but the internet took a nose-dive away from awesome the last few days and it keeps timing out. so in the meantime, here are two shorter videos which you might find rather amusing if you a. know Maverick, or b. appreciate cute kids :)

first of all, he spilled almost a whole container of bubbles:

and secondly, he randomly decided he missed his grandma, awww:

in other news, ladies, I’m talking about breastfeeding over here today.
gentlemen, I’m sure you have other things to do :)

Shorty-ish

Well so ends another weekend in the household of the Dillers. We have sadly come to the resolution that we are going to commiserate with our fellow Iowans and spend the winter here. We’ve already had a couple of inches of snow just this week, and I don’t think we’ve had any days that have been above freezing (I don’t track this too well so don’t quote me). So BLAH. Christina and I decided this after much thought, the trip wasn’t going to be long if we did go, so what is the worth of going to good weather and coming back to crappy weather. I have about 2 wks of paid time off at work so I think we’ll make use of those during this winter and get some stuff done with our business. yay !!

Bouncing the subject… I was so glad to receive a package of yummys from the church matriarchs!!! I guess they made some time to take care of our kids and make food for the parents!! I have to admit, this is one of the reasons why Iowa just rocks, nowhere in my travels have I encountered such a loving church family. I was blown away when we had Maeve, cus for 2 weeks we ate like pigs, because people in the church made meals for us, and now this! Sooooo… for those of you that don’t live in Iowa, stay where you are!!! Once mid-March comes along, THEN move to Iowa (I hope Kirk & Karla read this …).

I guess there’s not much more to tell. I’m proud of us  because our house has had a good semblance of order for the past week. It’s amazing how much nicer and less stressful life is with a clean house.Well got to go!! Oh a funny!! The other day we were praying for lunch and we were going to watch “the office ” and so I finish, and Maeve adds her little tag “an Gamma (grandma), an Tapaw (grandpa), an Michael!!!!” hee hee  I guess if you don’t watch the Office then sorry, and you should really come out of the cave and get some fresh air! Apparently she knows who he is!! ha ha!! Have an awesome week!! For those of you in IA, pray for God to have mercy on us.

Family,friends,and too much food.

Lets start with the latter… “twas the night before thanksgiving ,and all thru the house every creature was stuffing it’s face probably even the  mouse”, and so it went with thanksgiving day , the day after, saturday, and yes potluck 5th sunday at church !! I think it goes without saying that I am dieting or at least  trying to excersise  some sort of much needed moderation with my eating .  I think i was a bit too happy go lucky  with my diet . I didn’t really eat anything at work so i was hungry all day , and therefore felt justified in gorging myself when supper came around. I’m packing a lunch now, and trying to limit my calorie intake to about 2059/day  which should get me to losing 2.5 pounds a week.  I hope to someday get to 200lbs which would be where i should be , i think. Im a bit concerned  with the “extra  me”, i know for a fact that i should  do some sort of physical activity,  but truth be told , its hard to find the time and resovle to do it.

Eddy was here , and singlehandedly gave a boost to the US economy by buying pretty much everything that crossed his sight. I guess it can be excused since all the stuff he bought has about a 75% price hike in Costa Rica. It was very good to have our southern friend here , we had alot of fun with him, and Maeve was duly spoiled by him. Another source of spoilage was the ever spoiler aunt Kimberly. The Chandlers made their yearly appearance for Thanksgiving, and helped us with the gorge-fest. They also gave us the Aunt Kiki treatment which is much fun for everyone, always unpredictable , but always fuuuuunn!! I think the world would be a better and funner place if everyone had fun relatives (cus i had lots of fun with Tim also, I didnt see Morgan much tho, but i’m sure she was fun for those that were around her) from the South.

So yeah it was one of the more memorable Thanksgivings fun, family friends and food . Now for some  fwork.

Salute ,

David , for the Dillers

does this mean we’re…?

I think this is the first time possibly ever that we have thoroughly cleaned and organized our house/stuff that wasn’t motivated by someone coming to visit. And frankly, those times were always last minute, so there were always those random assortments of things that didn’t fit anywhere at the moment that got thrown together into a bag or box or corner or whatever. This time we are actually doing something about all that random stuff. So far. We still have a decent sized pile that is waiting for organization, so it remains to be seen if there will be any random bags or boxes. Truth be told, there have been numerous instances that I wasn’t aware of this phenomenon happening until later when I couldn’t find something… and it was still later when I found said object together with many other random things in one of those boxes or bags that the pieces came together… but I can’t really complain too much because he did come through for me many times when it was down to the wire. Anyway, after Maeve went to bed last night we kicked butt and took numbers. The kitchen and bathroom are done and our room and the storage/Maeve’s room are close. In the living room by the new desk is the largest pile yet to be assigned a location. So there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it might actually happen on time! Do you think this means we’re officially adults?

In other news, I’ve been trying to compile the words and phrases that Maeve is now using at 15 months. My current favorites are “buh be” (belly button, LOL) and “happy”, which she doesn’t know the meaning of, but loves to say for some reason. Other words that she’s added to her English vocabulary are: up, more, all done, yish (fish), bread, poppy (popcorn), mel (milk), eyes, nose, teeth, ear, elbeh (elbow), I don’t know, toes, shoosh (shoes), baby, trutch (truck), hot, hat, light, grandma, Tita (Titus), oh man!, oh no, oh dear, woah!, home, puppy, ow/owie! (which is a funny one because sometimes she’ll pinch you and say ow! for you, little punk), cheerios, amen, bed, bah (bath), appee (apple), duct (duck), hop hop hop (for a bunny). I’ll probably try to come back and edit the list as I think of more, cause it’s a good record to have. Most kids start out learning the same basic daily words, but it’s always funny to me what random ones they latch onto. That, they have as uniquely their own. I’m going to try to stick a few pictures in here, since who knows how long it will be till we have the gallery back up. I don’t really like putting pictures directly into the blog, but oh well, I guess.

oh the price we pay…

when we procrastinate. UGH. we are determined to start the second half of 2008 more organized and streamlined than ever before in our previous life. well, ok, I guess that could be considered a less than lofty goal. what I mean to say is, Lord willing, every aspect of our physical life will be well-ordered. personal and business finances and systems, living quarters, etc. it has taken an unbelievably scary amount of time to reorder our home. one van load has been disposed of, and one is still riding around waiting for the store to open again from the flooding. suffice it to say, we are so glad that we are able to say we are continually moving forward and improving. oh, I guess we won’t be getting our pictures and videos in order before the beginning of the second half of this year. and I’m certainly unsure what our vehicle status will be, though it would be a very nice surprise and blessing if that was resolved before then… sorry that this is an incredibly boring post, but I just wanted to add some accountability onto our goal. oh, two other things: buy a laptop cooling fan thingy – I wish we’d bought this one a long time ago. and avoid at all cost heavy laptops falling on your foot. tres ouch. good-bye top layer of skin.
