I’m sad that this is not one with pictures… but alas, we rarely ever get pictures of the cool stuff. we just got back from a rousing game of tennis… yes, it is 12:30am. yes, we live in North English. fortunately for us, North English is cool like that. since you weren’t able to be there, let us recap for you: David: serve; Christina: run around after the ball; pause while she picks up the ball; Christina: serve; David: hit the ball back; blah blah blah. I think our best record of keeping it in play was eight or nine in a row… we tried this the other day in the afternoon, but both started to get headaches cause of the heat – at night is way better! so yeah, this was Christina’s second ever time of trying to hit stuff with a tennis racquet on a court. she has potential I think. David likes to try all sorts of tricks, but he’s only played a couple of more times than Christina. I think it’s cause he’s such a boy. which is really one of the reasons that Christina married him. He’s a goober. that’s a word I like to call things a lot recently. well, we like holidays, so David just said that he could eat some pizza right now! eeewww, Christina is NOT hungry!!! plus, we used up our last cardboard pizza on Friday when we were finishing 24 (season 2 only, don’t tell us that the president was assassinated this year) and in other news, David got to battle rank 12 today… aw, he’s such a warrior… now we’re going to go check out engrish.com or something funny like that… cause it’s a free night where we don’t have to set the alarm and we’re currently on our balcony enjoying the night air/wireless internet/stars/etc. sorry to those of you that live in basements ;-)
I’ve always thought that this was an interesting feature back to our previously scheduled programming, reports indicate that wet towel season is now here in full force… earlier today Christina was live on the scene to tell you about it, Christina? yes, hi, David, I’m here at the Diller apartment and it appears that the heat has really taken it’s toll… humidity is high and the air is dead, stiffling, and generally unbearable. simply turning on the fan has no real effect and of course for those on a tight budget, using the air conditioning is not a viable option. this is when it becomes necessary to turn on the fan AND wet down some towels to sit under! (or lay under if the problem continues into the night) David: so can you explain to us how this process works? Christina: sure, it’s simple really… today I only needed a hand towel, but some of the hotter days really call for a large bath towel. you simply take your choice of towel and run it under the water, likely in the tub, soaking it all over, and then wring it out just enough so that it’s not dripping. you then place this towel on your lap or possibly across your shoulders and the difference is like night and day. and, David, I have to stress to you the importance of using a towel, a sheet or something else will dry much too quickly… as it is, on those hot nights you’re often having to get up a couple of times just to rewet the towel. you’ll really have to try it sometime, you know I sleep much better than you in the summer :-) David: well, we’ll see about that… (note from the producer: last summer it was so hot that Christina was able to convince David to sit in the bathtub full of cold water – they read a book in there for like 45 minutes or something… needless to say, no pictures are available)
in other news, we’re trying something new in the picture portion of our show… we truly hate hobbling along on a broken horse, and I don’t think I have to tell you that that described our old way of showing pictures! so for your viewing pleasure we have redone the zoooooooooo page. please check it out, it is only a taste of things to come… well, that’s all for our show today friends. see you next time on DILLER DAYS!!!
well, I would do that, but I think I have alleviated my need to procrastinate for today… I believe I am really only a minimalist procrastinator, I got tired of the list when I got to 8 because I didn’t feel I could really justify spending time on it – I very much enjoy the satisfaction of crossing stuff off my numerous lists… when I googled about procrastination I found a great wealth of information – do read this little excerpt, it’s lovely:
“Procrastinators often follow exactly the wrong tack. They try to minimize their commitments, assuming that if they have only a few things to do, they will quit procrastinating and get them done. But this goes contrary to the basic nature of the procrastinator and destroys his most important source of motivation. The few tasks on his list will be by definition the most important, and the only way to avoid doing them will be to do nothing. This is a way to become a couch potato, not an effective human being.” read the rest of the essay here it really resonates with me, and besides, there is a nice picture of the author jumping rope with seaweed.
I also found this, though I don’t know what it has to do with procrastination, it is pretty cool. our cell phone numbers spell mainly the word “weak” which I guess could be related to how well my phone holds up to being thrown over the shower curtain and landing on the floor of the shower from that 6.5′ drop… there is a bat-like blackout shape on my screen which has been there for mmmmm, a long time… if you think I can read your number to call you back when I miss your call, you would be wrong. I could just hit the call button, but I doubt I will because I won’t know who I’m calling… and if you ever want me to tell you someone else’s phone number because I have it in my phone and you need it, don’t bother asking…
and then I forgot it… but anyway, in answer to Sonya, we stayed in a zoo because the school where my mom teaches was doing a trip there and she invited us to go along… Jeffrey, Rachelle, and Nathaniel all went, too. it was a pretty interesting time! it was in the 90’s when we got there in the evening and the next day it just rained a bunch… the gorillas were our favorite, they were just SO funny!!! also, on the way to and from (it was in Nebraska) we watched 24… yeah, we finally got in a bit on all the hype, and we enjoyed it, but guys it is definitely not the kind of thing you would want to watch every week and sit through commercials because, well, frankly, tv is dumb :-) we did enjoy the show, though, we jumped in part way into season 2, so… we’re waiting for Jeffrey to get the last part of it from his netflix.
so here are some pics from last weekend…
yeah, you read it right. should be interesting… we’ll let you know how it turns out – pray we don’t get eaten.
