Jeffrey and Nathaniel redid their room this summer… they did an excellent job, just like they do on everything, but that means they spent a lot of money… their latest acquisition was a projector. (they got that idea from us a long time ago) so very soon we will be on a 24 season 4 marathon… I hope they managed to cut back on the soap opera aspect of it instead of making it worse – I heard that they got rid of Kim, so that would help a lot right there!!! Yay for holidays – hope everyone has a good one!

ps. I hate library fines!!!

There is some event that I’m supposed to be at, that people are either waiting for me or expecting me to be there or something… and everything goes wrong and I just can’t get ready and can’t get ready!!! If that happens in real life sometimes you just decide not to go… well, that wasn’t exactly what happened yesterday, but we were supposed to go to a wedding and the way the day played out there were numerous reasons that brought us to the decision not to go after all – the least of which was not that the clothes David got out for himself the night before somehow managed to stay at home instead of going along with us to my mom’s where we were going to get ready… oh well. The wedding was still successful.

The continuing saga of the ellusive mouse – it appeared again on Friday morning… it came running out of somewhere and went under a chair and Jeffrey just happened to be coming down to go to work, so he tipped the chair over and it wasn’t there, but later it came running out of there again! So then we barricaded it in, but it escaped and went in a closet… still don’t know where it is.

Yesterday we did a carwash fundraiser with the youth group for six hours… it was relatively fun, but got a little long. The kids weren’t very into holding the signs and directing people to come get their car washed, so some of them would just randomly come back and expect other people to go take their place. That was rather frustrating because it was pretty much a steady stream of cars lined up, so it was difficult to switch people out on washing without everyone getting all confused. But of course while the sign people stood around for a while the cars would stop coming (imagine that) authority, people! Everyone can’t just make up their own little rules!!! Of course they weren’t all like that, though… for the most part we were just really thankful for everyone who helped… for the last hour David and I went out and did the signs, though, (that was WAY less of a headache than washing – HA) and I must say that we did an excellent job, cause we had a pretty good vantage point, so we would watch to see which cars we got to go… we were pretty energetic and we just have fun being goofy together. Everyone did a really good job of washing the cars, too – a friend of ours who works in a bank right there said that a lady came in bragging about what a good job we did on her car and she had given us all the money she had so she had to go get more :-D

Anyway, it’s bedtime!

“just when you think you’re safe”

that was my mom this morning. I was sitting here on her couch with my lappy (as usual, yeah, cushiness that adds to my tushy) and in my peripheral I see this tiny ball of fur scuttle from behind a chair to behind a bookcase… I exclaim! from her bedroom she wonders what’s going on… almost before I can tell her, I see it pop out from behind the bookcase and head to another chair! so mom comes hurrying out (still dressed in bed attire – a long t-shirt – so cute! :-) ) and stands there wringing her hands and kind of prancing up and down saying how she HATES mice and then pretty soon the aforesaid scuttles back to the bookcase (I don’t think it liked all the commotion) so mom grabs a broom and stands there wielding it for a bit, but then says “maybe we should get the boys!” and I said sure, you stand there and make sure it doesn’t come out and I’ll get them… then she said, no, I don’t know if I want to stand here! So I said ok, YOU go get one of them… then she remembered that she had some sticky traps, so she got one and cut it in half and put it on either side of the bookcase. She then proceeded to shake and beat the bookcase a bit, but we were dealing with one smart mouse! We left it there a while and I saw it poke its head out and assess the situation – seriously, it went back in… then it went to the other side and took a flying leap over the whole sticky thing and bounded into the kitchen. Every time throughout this ordeal that I saw it mom would freak out and scream and prance around… it probably sounds worse than it was, but it really was funny! So, for now the mouse got away… that’s when mom said the thing about “just when you feel safe” and muttered how there are so many spiritual applications :-) she felt that mice should only be coming around in the winter…

in other news, my hubby has been quite the industrious little baker lately… that suits me just fine as I have the same sentiments about it that Sonya has. He decided to make pretzels the other night (he likes to do things like this just to see how it is – I, on the other hand, am more “practical”, as we were “constructing” the pretzels he made some comment about how it would have been better to do something or other differently, and so I said that we could do it a better way next time, and he was like “next time?!” he just wanted to do it that one time…) then he made a second try on the bread, this time a different kind, and it turned out quite nicely… last night he decided to try brownies – those did NOT turn out nicely at all!!! That was not his fault at all, though – we will likely have to do a good number of experiments before we figure out how to make semi-healthy brownies :-D

so I have a few things to update about and I see that I have been a procrastinator in this arena as of late… truthfully, I waited a bit because I was hoping that more would comment on my hubby’s post… you really need to encourage him, guys!!! he gets very sad when no one says anything about what he posts. I know, I know, it’s rare that people really actually comment on the actual topic of a post, but regardless, how about you just show him some love? ok, thanks. this weekend the USA REACH team was here and I think they were sufficiently worked to death :-) it was cool to see Jeremy again after years… we figured out that our year of RBI should have had it’s five year reunion last year… we wished he would have done one of those amazing things where he plays like a million characters in a sketch, but the team did an awesome job and basically made me ache inside to do something like that again…… waaaaaahhhh, it’s not like we’re tied down here with a house or kids or anything… yet… it was also fun seeing “little Steph” again - if by some wayward chance you ever read this, Michelle, don’t hit me :-) and the rest of the team seemed very cool also. of course, little Joe, who’s going to be an uncle…

let’s see, so last night we “played” tennis again… we actually did a little better than last time, got up to 15 volleys? I don’t know what to call it – back and forth hitting… David had decided to make bread and since it was his first time, and the first time that we made wholewheat in the breadmaker, there was a little trouble concerning how it was getting done… right before we went to play tennis (at 9:00) we felt that we set it on it’s last hour of baking. so we played and then took a movie back to another town where we had rented one two days before cause we had a free thing there and then came home pretty much famished to eat the bread! well, it wasn’t a very good sign when we came in and it didn’t particularly smell like bread. apparently the dumb thing hadn’t started baking again after the upset – oh yeah, I remember now, the “upset” was that I guess the mixer got a little hyper and flung some of the dough out onto the hot coil and it was smoking and burning… THAT was why we had to mess up the cycle. anyhoo, so we, particularly myself, were pretty disappointed and I grabbed a jar of pickles and sat down to look for something funny for us to take our minds off of our hunger until the bread could finish baking. crazy of all crazies, I found an LDS movie that I had been kinda curious about and so we watched that (online) gotta love modern technology! it was called “the Singles Ward” if that gives you any sort of clues… I think we finally ended up going to bed around 3:00AMtoday we went to Jeff&Rhonda’s for lunch and it was delicioso :-) the boys watched futbol and the girls watched Super Nanny, which I am NOT impressed with, and What Not to Wear, which was kinda funny because of the twin Korean girls that were the “victims”… the way they talked was a total hoot!!! (not accents, just the WAY they talked)

so yah, I got a few pics but almost decided to forego my whole post because I didn’t upload them with a high enough resolution for the size they’re coming out at, and I in NO way want to redo it all, so it is what it is, folks: pictures

now to occupy my hungry husband…

I bet you “Ecuas”  were soooo waiting  for this one … so here it comes …

A  job well done !!!  The  words taste bitter on my  finger  tips , but  it’s the  truth . For those  who are uninformed  Costa Rica  was  soundly trounced 3-0  today . This  loss  puts us out of  the  World  Cup with a less than satisfactory role  played .

So yeah ummm… I have a  big  problem  now   because  I’m running  out of  nationalities. I only have  the  gringos who are basically on “life support” right now, but they’re my only  soccer hope . If they  go then  I’ll only  be able  to enjoy the  World  Cup for  the beauty of the  game  well played . Maybe that’s  the  way things should be… playing for the  sake  of  playing … right ha !!!!!! Anywayz… Ecuas  nos  vemos en el proximo mundial !!!!!…… si llegan ja ja ja !!!! ¡Que  vivan los  Ticos! Desparramados,  desmoralizados, y de camino a casa… , pero Ticos en fin!!!
