little tidbits

I’ve been trying to collect up these little bits to put in all at once because I don’t want to bother your mail boxes with one sentence, know what I mean? I’m thinking that someday I should probably make David potato soup and popcorn for supper. Just that. I have a feeling he would be thrilled :-D

I’ve been having a rather hard time forcing myself to keep my feet on the floor of the car when we’re driving to work in the mornings. A. because I’m always wearing flip-flops. B. because it’s dark on the way to work. and C. because I had a run-in with a MOTHER cricket a while back, and it’s a little hard to get that out of my head… so sometimes I just leave my flip-flops on the floor and pull my feet up. David is finally going to get new contacts!!! Poor baby, I made him wear the same pair of disposables for at least the last 8 months. Ok, it really had nothing to do with me, and I think it was probably longer than 8 months… = o

I think I’ve finally conditioned myself to eat early in the morning and stop eating fairly early in the day! WOOT!!! For Sharon – we’re still exercising! Nathaniel joined us for two days, but decided to be a bum yesterday, so the jury’s still out on “long term” for him. I can’t say that I remotely look forward to that time of the day, nor that I am not supremely glad when it’s over, but I can say that I’m at least glad that it’s happening.

David has tomorrow off instead of Monday. It’s all right I guess. We’re planning to go to our little comedy club with the Yodas :-) but I’m such a dork that I STILL forgot to buy the tickets!!! I HAVE to remember today!!! (only because I’m hoping that we can get better seats this way) Sooooooooooo I guess that’s all the little tidbits for now. In parting, let me just remind you that I hate crickets. They’re gross, loud, and just won’t die out.

One last helpful tidbit (this is an edit) your traveling tip for the day: if you are hiking in the Alps stay AWAY from the cows. Apparently they have attacking cows. If you come upon one do NOT look it in the eyes. Also, do not turn your back on it. I guess you should just cover your eyes and pretend it’s not there.

time is of the essence…

There are so many things we need to do with this page, but everything else always seems to be higher up in the chain of priorities… it’s making me kind of frustrated.

Proudly, mom and I have started exercising every morning – tomorrow will be one week (ok, not on Sat. and Sun.) so I’m impressed so far and Jeffrey says he wants to join in, too. I am looking quite forward to that – should be funny, I can just hear him commenting on the stupidity of some of the exercises :-) but really it is a good all-around workout.

Last night the youth group did a work project and we painted in a youth center that several churches are undertaking in Kalona. Bright green and bright blue. Super colors in and of themselves, but I’m not all that certain of how it will turn out. It completely relies on what is done with the rest of it… the stage that they built there is certainly stellar, though!!! We’ll be interested to see how it shapes up. I’m glad that not everyone has the same “mission” in life, cause I’m glad that it’s happening, but it is definitely not my bent anymore – as in, I’m glad I don’t have to do it :-) (kid center type stuff)

Then they did a little thing for one of the youth’s birthdays… Happy Birthday, Bethany!!! But we didn’t make it over there till a lot later cause we were talking to Steve… weren’t looking forward to that talk at all, but we really feel like we need to move in a different direction and it’s like we’ve been trying to convince ourselves this whole last year and a half that helping with youth group was right. We never really felt like we were able to devote ourselves to it the way we knew we should, and it was a constant battle in ourselves because we felt bad for not doing a better job, but the whole time it seemed like we were trying to jam it into our lives and it never really fit into our hearts quite right… but we knew that Steve really needed help. I think there’s only so long you can survive in a “guilt ministry”, though… kind of like missionary dating, is it really good for anyone involved??? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you don’t ever have to do stuff you don’t want to do – duh, just that I feel like when God puts stuff in your heart you need to follow it and a lot of times that means weeding some other stuff out. You can only do so well at so many things at a time, and we hated being “unexcellent” :-) we are thankful for the things we learned during our time – it did help to refine some visions in us, and we hope to continue to help out in some ways…

I really wanted to eat some hotdogs, but David ate them all. So I put some ketchup and mustard on bread and just pretended. It was mostly ok. That’s all.

put that in your pipe and smoke it

If anyone has noticed a somewhat diminished occurrence of posting they can just blame the JERKS who made fun of me for being the one to write all the time. Look guys, if we took turns writing there would probably be about two posts a month. I would be quite pleased if David wrote more often, but I think it’s a bit of a chore for him, which is why he only seems to take it upon himself when there is something he feels strongly about or finds exciting. I would be happy to take dictation from him, but that also involves time, which he doesn’t generally have coming out his ears. The concept of “one”, however, is that we are of the same heart and mind, so rest assured that you are in effect hearing from both of us when either one of us writes SOMEthing. That said, he’ll probably write sometime in the next month – hahaha. (I’ve noticed it’s about every other month with him) (and actually, don’t smoke anything around our cute nephew)

We began our official togetherness… and we have celebrated our monthaversary in some way ever since. Today is no exception, (in fact there will never be an exception, because we are pretty flexible in the ways in which we celebrate – it just has to be something special) but we aren’t sure yet if we want to go out somewhere or stay at home… we’ve been pretty tired and haven’t really fully recovered from our trip!
Speaking of our trip, we should expound a little bit on that… as previously mentioned, we had some pretty intense class time, but oh so good! For our graduation they even put on Pomp & Circumstance and we had to each file through and pick up our certificate and whatnot as they called our names (not to mention, wend through the gamut of hugs).  I was going to share some of those pictures, but I realized I do not have all of them with me.
So we’ll share pictures of our time at the resort instead. It is HIGH time we reworked all this crap… time is not a free commodity, however.
