These two boys I know have gotten into the habit of blowing things up after work… you might recognize them, too. (whoops, I just realized that David was the one taking the pictures, so you won’t see him)
The other day, David and I were very hungry. David remembered that there was a Mediterranean market that we had not been to yet, so we called Karla to find out where it was and ventured over. Much to our horror we couldn’t find any hummus. When we asked the guy in charge he directed us to some cans with “hummus” in them. We contemplated our bravery level and realized that, though low, it was no match for our hunger level, and so proceeded to buy two cans of the suspicious stuff. To supplement our little meal we also purchased cucumber pickles and pickled eggplants with, of course, pita. We then made our way to a McDonald’s parking lot and tasted our ambivalent food. Yep, that’s pretty much how we felt about it. Can’t say I’d recommend canned hummus. Oh, I didn’t try the eggplant that night, cause I wasn’t sure how it’d agree with me at the time. I did last night, however, and the only way I can think to describe it is a small nugget of canned red beet garnished with spicy brown mustard. That’s how pickled eggplants taste to me. Not bad.
Good news! Some very dear friends of ours are going to be gracing us with their presence in precisely 5 days :-) that’s right, Kirky & Karla are “stopping by” on their way to the big north land. If you hear a lot of laughter around that time, you’ll know why. (cause they look funny)
In about 7 days we are apparently traveling to OH to spend Christmas with the Dillers… I say apparently because we are still waiting to hear if we will be able to stay with Reuben’s or not (hint, hint :-) ) We are really looking forward to seeing little (or as the case may be, not so little anymore) Ethan! Oh yeah, and the others, too… :-)
Yep, feeling fat. No new pictures right now, though.
I suppose it’s been sufficiently long enough that’s it’s time to post again. Can you say busy? You know, time of year, yada yada. A number of random things of interest have happened since last update, but I don’t know if I’ll remember them. That, my friends, is why you should post every couple of days. I also thought of some questions. Here are a few:
What is up with all the gigantic air snowmen??? Do people get to this time of year and think “wow, I have too much money! What can I do to get rid of some? Oh, how about one of those gigantic air snowmen?! I bet those cost some money to keep up, and I didn’t spend enough on my air ghost at Halloween!” and some of them have the audacity to hold little signs that say “let it snow!”, not to mention all the other paraphernalia I see around that say things like “welcome frosty!” and stuff… are these people REALLY that big of fans of snow??? Do these people not drive cars? Well, congratulations to them for getting into the season, I guess. I need to make my own line. It would say things like “come on, Mr. Sun, you can do it!” “You’re only as cold as you feel” “The only good thing about winter is that fewer people forget to put all of their clothes on when out in public.” Yep, no one steal that last one – it’s going to be on one of my t-shirts someday.
What are the road people thinking? David and I realized while dodging deer that there are no deer crossing signs on our road at all. There should probably be one every mile or so. They should even make a more graphic sign especially for our road, perhaps of a deer attacking a car… Sonya, why don’t you get right on that?
I guess that’s probably enough deep questions for you to ponder for now. In other news, as you may have noticed in comments on the last post, aunt Kimberley (Kiki to Baby D?) has already gone to the trouble of thinking of plenty of names for our poor child so that we don’t have to. Whew, glad to get that out of the way.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, by the way. Four days of sleeping in!!! Good food, though I’m happy to say that we did not gorge ourselves. And I only gained 2.5 pounds in the last month as opposed to the more like 8 that mom’s scale was scaring me with. I’ve been wanting sweet stuff more in the last two months, though, don’t know what’s up with that. Ah well.
Ok, my little brain train has definitely gone around the tracks and off into the distance now, I lost it. I think it’s time to get back to work… (of which we are INSANELY swamped!!!!!!!! I wish people could spread out their demands a bit. But no. Everything has to be done at the same time and it all has to be at the end of the year where holidays tend to congregate. Must be one of Murphy’s laws.)
