28 years of goodness :-) God really loved me the day he made David! I hope your today is wonderful, Diller!!!

This reminds me that we missed someone else’s birthday! We thought of you the day before, Mayela, but in all the craziness of leaving for OH we forgot to even call on your day!!! Please accept our chagrined apology! And we hope that it was a good day…

Yes, we went to OH for a long weekend and it was marvelous! Kirk and Karla are ever the gracious hosts and do such a wonderful job of making everyone feel at home. They were so sweet as to let us sleep in their bed! Baby D has really gotten us the special treatment a couple of times now :-) They cooked an utterly amazing brunch for us on Saturday – mmmmmm, and Kirk made a lot of fires to keep us toasty warm. It was great to see my LA girls again, and it’s so crazy how much everyone hasn’t changed! Well, we’d like to think we’re all more mature… seriously, though, we laughed a lot!!! Good for the abs. “it was so strange, it had to be real.” we didn’t do any reading outloud on the way home, though…

truly odd

Have you ever had the unfortunate incidence of walking outside early on a chilly morning not long after brushing your teeth, and then inhaling? I have… too many times. I try to remember not to, but so far it hasn’t worked. After that first breath I certainly do remember not to inhale, all the way up until David opens the car door for me (which he just simply always does) and I jump in to safety. There is something about breathing in toothpaste and chilly air that tastes like fish. Very weird. I don’t remember if I had this problem before being pregnant. Partly because I don’t remember having this problem before it was cold.

I don’t understand why people must insist on looking at snow all around them and having many actions, such as safe driving, inhibited by its existence. Some people claim to find it so beautiful. Some people want the white to cover up the brown of northern winters. I, personally, strongly prefer pictures of said snow. I am happy with brown. Brown is a safe color. Brown does not cover roads and make them treacherous. People do not need to die to make me happy. I think we want to move.

Two nights ago I had probably the longest and strangest dream in a long time. I do not now remember all the details, but one thing that happened was that we were in some other country “Bengal”, which I think I found kind of strange at the time, cause I thought of tigers, but I just looked it up and indeed it is made up of Bangladesh and West Bengal… weird. Making up countries in my sleep. Anyway, we were eating at a small table outside and apparently you have to be really careful there if you are foreign, particularly a woman, because you might get attacked. This is no normal attack, however, and I do not know if it is better or worse, I think worse? There was a woman standing over on the street corner waiting for a taxi or something and two men suddenly came up and grabbed her and took off her shoes and started trying to eat her bare feet!!! Sometimes my imagination is just too much for me…!

What was that? You say you want to see some pictures?

moving on…

I was going to say that everyone must have been afraid to comment on that last one, but then Janelle got brave :-) also, David wants everyone to know that he is not some sort of weird pervert. (he’s actually really not, just the dearest, kindest, most funny man I know!)

We have compiled a list of things we are hoping to acquire for our child. There are also a number of things we very much do NOT want – not this, this, OR this.

speaking of animals

so we live in Iowa. currently. as I have for the great majority of my life. I have never once seen cows “humping” (as David likes to put it) in fact, I have never seen any animals doing anything of the sort, except for flies. David manages to see this all the time! And every time he brings it to my attention, but I miss it. Last time (Monday) I said, how do you always see that?! And he said it is because every time we go by cows he looks to see so he can show me! So today, thank you, Diller, for 2 years and 9 months of looking out for me :-)

as for why OSU lost, David and Ant are convinced they were all drunk or hungover…

get back on the horse…

Sometimes there are a myriad of reasons not to post, so you just have to bite the bullet and get back in the game… speaking of games, last night there was a bit of mourning going on – though we agreed that in the grand scope of things… ya know.

Too much has happened since the last update – haha. So I’ll just say that we had a great holiday time and it was refreshing… we spent a couple of days with David’s parents and bro’s family and also got in some time with extended family, which was cool – lots of little kids running around. We were also surprised with some baby gifts and that was awesome! Baby D’s room is actually usable now, thanks to a visit from Kirk & Karla, which forced us to make a place for them to sleep :-) there is still plenty of crap that we need to go through, but the baby has its own little corner of stuff now. We did have a really fun time with the Kauffman’s, too!

Now it looks like we’re finally going to get a little REACH team reunion (mine) at the end of the month! Rather amazing, considering we’ve been trying for about five months to find a time that would work for everyone. I think it helps that they want to see how fat I am. (just kidding) Most of the time I actually don’t feel too bad, but sometimes I feel like my stomach is going to explode :-) I also seem to have a somewhat mild case of Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction, which showed up about a month ago. The first two days I could hardly move one of my legs. Yay. David often has to help me turn over in bed.

Notice how the subject keeps shifting? I guess it’s just getting closer.

Our car is being a butt recently. We had to borrow Nathaniel’s to go to OH cause we weren’t sure what was wrong with ours. We’ve already paid a pretty penny towards the problem with no resolution. C’est la vie, eh?

there are some pictures that should be posted, but, well, don’t feel like it right now… that was part of the procrastination factor.

I’ll leave you with one more baby thing – we’re having a shower on Saturday… wow.
