So ya I thought it was high time to write somethin’ … there… ha ha. Anyways, just finished “Blue like Jazz” and thought it was highly intriguing. I absolutely love the way he writes, I think he’s very nonchalant, and earthy umm… I like …:-) I think the content was also very interesting It gave a very clear view of the movement he is part of . I think I was building up to Miller , maybe I’ll try Mclaren next and who knows maybe after that I’ll write my own book about denying the reality of sin or something . Ok that was a low punch I know, but I had to throw it in for my dear friend Bryan Neusch, and maybe for Kirk. Ok now for the real review …

I was extremely impressed he was honest and gritty to the bone. I have to admire a man that hangs his humanity out there in such a fashion. He is open and real in that sense the book is pretty awesome. He was definitely burned by the established church , and he lets his readers know in no uncertain terms , but truth be told I don’t think he speaks against it . His words are more an encouragement to move towards the essence of Christianity. I liked the challenge that reading this book placed on my life , so I’m gonna recommend it … I recommend “Blue Like Jazz” by Don Miller . There it’s recommended by me now, BTW this is David writing …

On another note I tried to make my kitchen a swimming pool, but it didn’t work. When I wash Maeve’s diapers you plug the thing into the faucet and hook the “outgoing” hose on the side of the sink so all the “poopy” (not really) water goes down the drain. Long-story-short: vibrations, hose on floor, 3 buckets, one towel.

This afternoon it was Maeve and Daddy time. So we hung out … I took pictures of her, she drooled on me, I played guitar, she swatted little hanging toys. The coolest thing was when she farted, and I being the inexperienced baby noise interpreter thought she had done her “thing ,but it was a false alarm. So I changed her anyways, and she was fussy so I made those stupid sounding noises that daddy’s make to appease the wrath of our children, well it worked!!! She started giggling and waving her arms and legs at a million miles per hour and then she said “igloo”. That was sooo cool, it made me laugh a lot. Ok I know it was circumstantial and truth be told it was more like “gigigloo” so I guess it won’t be the first one in her vocabulary . Maybe we shouldn’t be giving her shaved ice for her aching gums … well gotta go its getting kinda weird.

Signing off … David

so efficient…

Our little cute butt decided to try to get three teeth all at once. Guess she’s such a daddy’s girl she just had to get teeth early like him. (early to me anyway) But they seem to be stuck… we’ve seen the same little white bits sticking out for a week now. She does really well with it most of the day, just a little needier, but her schedule has kinda been shot to pieces. Well, not shattered or anything, I think she was ready for something a little different before she started getting these teeth, and so that didn’t help. She’s just a little more restless at night. I’m a little tired.

In other news, the detective position was filled and the mystery of the last post solved! I think it might have been the next day or so…I was telling God that I really felt bad about those stupid things and wanted to get them out! And he gave me an idea of where to look, which I had already half-heartedly looked there, but I pulled out all the stops this time and there they were buried under some coats. So FINALLY.

In other, other news, our poor little car has given up on us. We’re going to bite the bullet and replace it, I guess…

it’s a scorcher

I’ve become a lazy speller. That last post had several errors. I remember typing one word and thinking “I’m sure that’s not the way it’s spelled”, but no little red line appeared under it and I thought “weird. I will check it later.” Later didn’t come until David read the post. Whoops.

Sometimes Maeve stirs a little bit in the night and wants her paci. It’s always quite dark and mommy has to feel around to first find the paci, and then the little doll’s mouth. One night I felt around her whole bed five times and couldn’t find her paci anywhere! I thought ok, I know it didn’t jump out of the bed. FINALLY, I found it down her shirt. I had to laugh. Another night I sleepily found myself trying to make heads or tails of my daughter and finally realized that I was trying to stick the paci in her ear. Oh me. I guess they make glow-in-the-dark pacis for a reason… (and little bed lights, which hers is still missing a battery)

As has been mentioned before, our drive to and from work affords us many opportunities to view various animals. Most recently they include many pheasants and killdeer. I get a kick out of watching them go scurrying out of the way (usually due to a warning honk from David, which is actually more of a plea that they not make contact with our windshield – the pheasants, that is) anyway, I surmised one day that perhaps people would walk around like that with their heads leading the way if it weren’t for their swinging arms to help with the momentum. And if birds had arms they probably wouldn’t do that with their heads. Funny pictures, no?

Do you ever dream you are casting out demons or doing some other sort of spiritual warfare or witnessing/”testifying” very earnestly? Strange, that.

I hate those pills that are capsules you can see into. They’re soooo lightweight and kinda gross looking. You throw your head back to try to swallow them and they just float to the top of your mouth. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Oh, you’ll be sure to notice that David has added a few more songs to the player there to your left. Good stuff. also, a couple more pictures :-)

we need a detective

Ah, so much to do… I’m pausing to write this mainly because we have a couple of pictures that we’ve been wanting to put up for a while now. (some video, too, but that takes more time) One day it was so hot and we wanted to let Maeve splash around in some water, but didn’t want to have to be stuck in the bathroom with her, so we got creative. We tried our largest bowl first, which believe me when I say that it is large, but it wasn’t really suited to her splashing around. It seemed it would be better if she could lay down. So we got out our biggest cookie pan, and believe me when I say it is big – it doesn’t fit in our oven :-) We put some of our waterproof (mattress, but highly versatile) pads under and around the pan and filled it with water and let her splash away. Much fun was had by all, and wow to how much water those pads can hold!

How was your 4th? Ours was grand, though we did no celebrating of any sort. We got much done. David found a new room in our apartment. Pretty cool. We’re gonna call it Maeve’s room, though it has some office stuff and a storage closet. David likes to tell me that I’m a hard worker, but I am nothing compared to his diligence. (ok, granted, sometimes he likes to slack off, but so do I) Once he starts a project he is determined to finish it. Once I start a project like the one he took on yesterday I am determined to find as many excuses for a break as I can! It’s fun, cause in those situations I can pretend like I’m a kid. Sometimes he makes me keep working, and sometimes I can whine enough or be clever enough to get out of it :-) I didn’t have to do either yesterday, though, as I had other things that demanded my attention. Oh, I AM proud of myself for finally going through all my clothes and putting some stuff away and putting some other stuff in a bag to get rid of, etc. My closet is greatly whittled down, thanks to my abundant body. I don’t know, I kinda like it this way. (now that I have a few more shirts added to the rotation) Simple is good. Less is more. All that jazz. I still have way more than many unfortunates, and I think of that often. Speaking of that bag of clothes to get rid of, I’m pretty sure that will probably sit by our door for a long time before it finally makes it out to our car, where it will sit for an even longer time while it awaits its thrift store fate. We are bad, bad, BAD at taking stuff back or getting rid of stuff. Another thing we are colossally bad at is mailing ANYTHING!!! If it doesn’t involve a computer, forget it. We have a ton of thank yous that never got sent from our wedding. I feel really bad about that. I think it’d be a little weird by now, though. It’s especially stupid that we spent all the time to write them out. We have a few thank yous for gifts to Maeve that still haven’t been sent out (along with a few delinquent announcements, and now 3 month pictures) and I am determined that those will go out. BUT I CAN’T FIND THEM!!!!!!!!! David addressed them and everything! And they promptly disappeared. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! I’ve been looking for them for two weeks. Soooo annoyed.
