This week we were on a nice little road trip to visit David’s brother in Ohio. Their parents usually go at this time every year and we try to be there to see them and extended family as well. We used to go around Christmas time as well, so we’d see everyone twice a year, but now that my parents live in Tijuana, Mexico, we feel like we need to travel the other direction for that part of the year.
It’s weird to think that we only see them once a year, but at the same time it really doesn’t feel like that long! The biggest thing is that our kids and their kids get bigger…
The trip ended up being my favorite so far, I think. We had a good amount of time there so that it didn’t feel rushed at all, and we got to spend more time with various extended family than we usually do. I really like the kids to be able to play more with some of their extended cousins. Some of them had fun sewing with Aunt Barb, but Maverick was totally enthralled with his cousin’s game of some sort, so Dylan made him a pillow to take home. I thought that was so nice!
This trip was really about relationships. We got to stay with David’s grandma for 6 days, and although she didn’t have internet (we loaded some shows on my computer when we were with internet during the day so that we could watch something after we took the kids to her house to go to bed) we really enjoyed the chance to spend more time with her, and hopefully that was mutual 🙂
Our friends John & Stephanie live at a good halfway-ish point for us to stop over and make the trip shorter, so we actually stayed with them on the way to Ohio, and I got this fun picture of them swinging with the kids.
So here is this craziness of the first part of our trip, including me glowing like a big glow stick.
