When you add cooking for kids in the mix, I don’t know about you, but it’s enough to make me want to throw in the towel and just order pizza. It might not be the most healthy or frugal choice, but at least the family is happy and you have a chance of staying sane.

This is one of those areas of life we’ve always told ourselves we’d get simplified and squared away at some point, but frankly, it’s just been too overwhelming!

It’s with this in mind that we’re doing a month-long series: 31 Days to A Smarter Healthy™.

Why “A Smarter Healthy™”?

Everyone likes to throw around “lifestyle change” over “diet”, but realistically it’s got to be super convenient and practical to stick with long term. Period.

So far, we haven’t been able to find any one “plan” that feels quite right, so we decided to intelligently combine aspects of several of them together to create our own customized hybrid system by the end of this series.

First of all, we thought about what tends to hold us back from developing and sticking with an optimal diet and exercise regimen.

Do you identify with any of these frustrations?

  • All the conflicting information floating around makes it complicated to determine what’s healthiest.
  • Exercise is time-consuming, boring, and hateful (my personal opinion 🙂 ).
  • Food that’s convenient isn’t healthy.
  • Food that’s healthy isn’t yummy.
  • Healthy food that’s yummy is expensive and/or hard to find.
  • We really enjoy crappy comfort foods and aren’t keen to give them up!
  • We don’t want to be “those” people at holidays and events.

  • No more extensive planning & last-minute scrambling
  • No more tracking nonsense & being "hangry"
  • No more time-consuming routines

We’re confident we can develop a system that combines these objectives well.

Of course it will be somewhat personalized to our style, but we believe collecting this information in this way will empower you to tweak it to fit you, too.

As with how we approach everything in life, we aim first for progress over perfection. A Smarter Healthy™ is about the little choices added up and built on over time.
