The lyric “You are I AM, I am as You are” first came to me in Fall 2022 or earlier. I just mulled it over for a couple years until February of 2024 when the rest of it suddenly came out.
Just now as I’m writing this post, I glanced down and it’s 2:22.
There’s so much about the last decade that’s been synergistic like that, but growing into a bigger identity in Christ certainly isn’t for the faint of heart.
Following random nudges, paired with long bouts of questioning; feeling strong in authority, followed by feeling more fragile than ever.
This song came out of the desire to be grounded in relationship and in the unity of heart and mind – to focus on the truth of my identity in Christ and grow in that stature until I “know beyond the shadow of a doubt”. Aspiration and affirmation… and something I could worship (align) with in truth.
It took several iterations and tools developing a lot over time to get this demo to the place it is today. Not my voice, but pretty close to how I want it to be sung.
