When to take a break.
When you’re hustling and in the groove, it can be hard to remember to take a break until all of a sudden you’re exhausted and can’t go a step further. It’s actually a lot more productive to take breaks at intervals so that you have a chance to recharge. It worked out well for us to take a little break on LABOR DAY. (yes, we actually did know what day it was, but apparently all awareness flew out of our brains as soon as we turned on the camera – what in the world?! yay, one-takes!)
Sometimes you have to take a step back and re-evaluate how and why you’re doing things. I knew for a while that we needed to switch up how we were doing videos because they were just taking up too much time and I wasn’t being able to get to other important things. We knew we didn’t want to just STOP doing videos altogether, and I debated about maybe just cutting something out, but it didn’t quite seem like the right solution yet. So we came up with the idea of 60 Second September for all but our vlogs for this month.
Setting a timer and challenging ourselves to get the videos done in 60 seconds is going to force us to become more efficient – planning out videos a little better ahead of time, getting better with how we say things and not going off on so many rabbit trails, all good things. My goal is that we come out of September with better skills and better habits, but it’s also going to give us more time for other projects that have been impatiently waiting, so I’m excited!
