once upon a time we got married.
we registered for some great stuff and we made a pretty decent haul, too.
over the years as we lived in a 750 sq ft apartment and brought two children into the family, we had to get pretty creative in our use of space. we reorganized numerous times, getting rid of things here and there, but mostly just trying to get as much out of what we had as possible, wanting to hang on to the cool stuff to be able to use “someday” when we had our “real” house.
somehow we managed to pack a lot, and I do mean a. LOT. into that little apartment. two years ago when we moved into the next step for us, 1,000 sq ft (including the little shed I think?), we were very, very creative in getting it all to fit here in the best way possible. I mean we had a little more space to work with, but we also had more stuff here, like a washer and dryer – YES, and a little chest freezer – YES again, so really, it became somewhat comparable.
in any case, we
completely love are really thankful for how our living situations have forced us to be creative and resourceful, and wouldn’t have it any other way at this point in our lives. (yes, we’d LOVE to own multiple beautiful homes in multiple countries someday, so we can have people come stay with us or just put people up to bless them, but right now we’re still growing into that if God so wills 🙂 )
if you follow us on twitter or instagram you may have seen some of our #outtahereOct posts. it’s been a little bit slow going the first half of the month because we didn’t have time to make a big purge. but today we made some great progress! we reorganized our living room and “minimalized” it. and it feels sooooooooooooooo good. I can’t even tell you. we even started in on the play/exercise room, too! thankfully our big family bedroom is already mostly done (yeah, that’s a post for another day), so this is actually starting to feel possible…! here are a few of the things that have met their demise so far this month (for the full list, click the pic above or in the sidebar):
oh whoops, no, that was from Sunday 🙂
and here’s one from Nikkiana, who we had the pleasure of meeting when we were in NYC!
fun fact: we also happened to stay in Nikki’s appartment, and actually moved ALL of her stuff out, minus the biggest furniture and one drawer we missed. if you haven’t seen that vlog, you really should. it was a rather crazy and interesting day in New York 🙂
anyway, feel free to join in our quest to minimize all the STUFF and hashtag it #outtahereOct and it will show up in the feed to which that sidebar button links. a number of people have said they want to get rid of stuff, too, so we’d love to see it 🙂
