You may have heard of Swagbucks, but I’m sure you’ve had numerous “quick, easy money” scams come across your radar over the years, so you would rightly wonder – is Swagbucks legit?

How does Swagbucks work?
There are multiple methods to earning the Swagbucks “currency”, which you can then convert into your choice of virtual gift cards. We usually pick Amazon cards since that’s where we like to buy the majority of our stuff.

1. Searching is the main thing we do because it involves zero extra effort – we just use the Swagbucks search as our default search engine in place of Google. By my comparison I find the results to be virtually identical, but I do switch over to Google when I’m searching for images because I prefer that layout/design.
What you earn seems to be a bit random, but we get an average of about 30 SBs per day via searching.

2. Another faster way to earn SBs is by shopping through their links. You can access this feature from the home page —> shopping section. The buttons tell you how much “cash back” you’ll get – for example as of this writing, you can get 9 SBs per dollar spent at JC Penney.
The “Shop-Home” page also has local offers that give you Swagbucks, as well as some awesome coupons that not only give you a percentage off your purchase but also give you cash back.
You can simplify the whole process by adding the Swagbutton to your browser, which will then notify you when you’re interacting with a site that offers SB earning potential.
3. I love the option to earn by watching videos because it can add up nicely with potential of $90 or so per month.
Here’s the trick: You can set it up to play on a tab on your computer (or through the phone app), mute your device or the specific tab, and do other stuff while it plays!
Is it something to spend time doing? No way. But if you’re going to be on your computer anyway, the minimal effort just might be worth that extra cash in your pocket.
4. Refer friends – once in a while we mention Swagbucks to friends, but we know it’s easier to understand and make the most of when you can quickly get the lowdown through an article like this.
The other 4 ways to earn are ones we just don’t bother with because they feel like more effort than we want to put in. Others feel it’s worth it, though, so it just depends on your individual situation.

How do you get the moolah?
There are three things you can do with your SBs: buy something, donate, or use them for entries to various sweepstakes. All of these actions are accomplished in your account dashboard.
You can only redeem 2 rewards per day, which really isn’t an issue. We usually try to cash out when cards are on “sale” – offering the same dollar value for fewer Swagbucks.
So is Swagbucks safe, and is it worth it?
Based on our experience earning hundreds of dollars, we’d say YES 🙂
