I don’t remember the context that birthed the desire to create a lyrical meditation based in the Lord’s Prayer, I just remember the strong urge to sit and feel into it in June 2025. I knew if Jesus taught prayer that way it has to be good, but what does it really mean?
I make no claims other than the deep sensing of my spirit that stems from a lifetime of seeking, and a decade of pulling loose threads from the tapestry constructed as Christianity. This is what has resonated with my heart.
Our Father in Heaven
(Source we rest in)
There is no other source. In Him we live and move and have our being – from whom are all things, our existence is through Him… and we can rest in that, regardless of being sure what or how to believe in any of the other details. Why do I believe this? Because all religious constructs aside, I don’t question that love exists.

Holy is your name

Acknowledging and honoring that no other name carries the power and authority aligns us experientially within that name.

Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, here as in Heaven

That the dimension of Earth would mirror the dimension of Heaven, reflecting the original design of the Creator… not on some far-off day – here and now, glory to glory.

Give us today our daily bread
(living from Your presence)
Jesus is the bread of life – a daily re-membering that presence is what sustains us.

Forgive us as we forgive
(align our hearts with Your breath)
Forgiveness is the posture of an open heart – uncluttered and unencumbered – without which we aren’t positioned to receive. I see this as a reminder to always be turned toward the life that God breathes into us. Like a battery properly aligned in the charger.

Lead us not into temptation
(the lie of separation)
The goodness and perfection of the divine, contrasted with the vulnerable and fragile human experience… naturally spawns the temptation to spiral into hopelessness in the apparent logic of separation. The temptation undergirding all temptations – the carrot of “more” dangling ever out of reach… the recognition of lack, the longing that all be made right… and all the empty attempts to bridge the felt gaps, stemming from a heart imprinted with Heaven, feeling stranded on Earth. We are only ever separate as prisoners of our own minds fixed on earthly things.

Deliver us from evil
(let Love be revealed)
Only Love has the power to transform death to life, hearts of stone into hearts of flesh. Light has no real fight with darkness; its presence simply dispels it. Revelation is the rescue.

We are merely remembering and realigning so that we can experience this truth in our lives. When we quiet our frantic struggles to exist and subsist independently, we find we have always been safe and held.
